Urban Permaculture Courses are designed for people who want to learn to live more sustainably, grow some of their own food and win back some of their independence.

The course includes many diverse subjects including; garden designs, identifying functions and natural systems, and integration of small animal systems. Discover how to extend your growing season, explore various methods for harvesting rain water and storing water in the garden. We investigate the concepts of community gardening and how they work in Canberra as well as a local land share program. The course will visit various gardens and discover the benefits of system design and the importance nutrient cycling.

For those who have no previous permaculture training the course is a great introduction. For those with past permaculture training this course will expand your current knowledge, give you new skills, experiences and ideas.  This course is a mix of backyard and community solutions that are aimed at developing resilience and food security within  the confines of the urban setting.  Urban Permaculture One is the first in a series of courses that will be offered by Permaculture Canberra in the future. Urban  Permaculture Two is scheduled to run in  October and will investigate further into  sustainable living in the urban environment. Permaculture Canberra’s training in urban sustainable design and techniques is focused on helping city folk make their world a better place to live in.
