Talk- Home Solar and Batteries @ Griffith Meeting Room | Griffith | Australian Capital Territory | Australia

Fraser Argue a Canberra resident & Rowan McMurray from Evoenergy

Back in May 2016 Fraser responded to the ACT Govt’s initial Next Generation offer which supports the installation of batteries with household solar.  Part of the offer was to give a discount to help offset the cost of the battery in return for participants agreeing that the Govt can have access to the data generated from the Solar + Batteries.   This data is collected via Reposit which also controls these systems.

Fraser’s system has been operating now for over 21 months and he is now part way through his plan to say goodbye to gas and achieve “less than zero CO2 emissions” for his house.

Fraser will convey how it is all going, and give his thoughts for others who are contemplating a similar journey.  Fraser has retired after a career as a Power Engineer mainly with ActewAGL (now Evoenergy).  Fraser will graphically show times when it is best for urban customers to stay connected to the grid, and how folks with Solar + Batteries will benefit from being part of Virtual Power Plants.

Evoenergy operates the distribution network across the ACT. They have identified that power networks around the world are about to undergo large scale change, and since 2017 they have been working on Virtual Power Plants as one of several steps to reshape the network to meet the future needs of the community. Rowan McMurray from Evoenergy will follow Fraser’s talk with an insight into the aims and outcomes of their Virtual Power Plant trial.
