When you’re trying to do the right thing and become more sustainable, it can be a challenge to find your way through the maze of “green” service providers and product suppliers.
ClimateXchange does not claim to have expertise in this area (see disclaimer), but we can suggest you look at the websites of some organisations that do have a role in accrediting service providers or certifying/rating products:
- Clean Energy Council – lists accredited designers and installers of solar photovoltaic systems
- Energy Rating – this Australian Government website provides energy efficiency and star ratings for a range of electrical appliances that carry an energy label
- Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) Scheme – this Australian Government website allows consumers to compare the water efficiency of different products registered under the WELS Scheme.
- Good Environmental Choice Australia – lists products that have achieved certification with the Good Environmental Choice Label.
- Forest Stewardship Council – their online database provides information on certified companies and their FSC certified timber products that comply with responsible forest practice.
- ACTSmart Business and Office Program – lists organisations and businesses accredited and working towards accreditation for efficient waste management and recycling.
- Marine Stewardship Council and Sustainable Australian Seafood Assessment Program- list sustainable seafood products.

I was checking out the DEWHA website for another purpose and stumbled on this link. I thought others might know of it, but if not thought it worth adding to the data banks of websites that are potentially useful. It has lists of all rebate programs inter alia.
