Public Transport in the ACT

What can be done to build a world-class public transport system in
Canberra? Is the claim that ‘Canberra doesn’t have the density for an
effective public transport system’ true?

The ACT Greens and the Conservation Council are holding a public forum
to discuss the future of public transport in Canberra.

The forum will cover the relationship between transport and planning,
and the steps Government can take to improve modal share of public
transport.

*Guest Speaker:*

Dr Paul Mees – RMIT Transport and Statutory Planning Senior Lecturer.

Dr Mees teaches and researches in the areas of transport planning and
statutory planning. Prior to his RMIT tenure, he taught urban planning
at the University of Melbourne for 10 years, He was also a Research
Fellow at the Australian National University’s Urban Research Program.
Dr Mees is one of Australia’s leading experts on urban public transport.
He has recently released a book: Transport for Suburbia: Beyond the
Automobile Age
