Politics in the Pub – Ian Fry

After Durban, is climate change on the backburner?

The Australia Institute will host its next Politics in the Pub evening on Wednesday 14 March.

Ian Fry is the International Environmental Officer for the Government of Tuvalu. He has represented Tuvalu as part of their delegation to climate change meetings since the start of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997.

Ian first spoke to Politics in the Pub in February 2010 following the Copenhagen round of negotiations. He will join us again to discuss the outcomes of the climate change conference in Durban.

The Australian Government says the meeting was a step forward, but is this really the case? Have we just put climate change on the backburner? Ian will also discuss the implications of Canada’s withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol and other developments on the international climate change front.
