What is Happening:

The Canberra Environment Centre is organising this workshop as part of its Canberra Carbon Challenge and SustainAbility workshop series.

Learn how easy and beneficial it is to keep chooks in your backyard!  Healthy, happy backyard chooks:
– lay nutritious eggs which provide all the essential amino acids for humans as well as several vitamins and minerals
– help reduce food waste, keep grass down and manage insect pests
– are diligent gardeners who love to scratch, turn-over, aerate and compost soil
– are an on-site source of valuable manure high in N, K and P (elements necessary for vegie growth)
– are great feathery pets for young and old and all those in between
This workshop will help you learn: what backyards chooks require; how to choose the right breed and where from; how to house, feed, water and care for them; as well as how to deal with all the benefits.

Cost is $10 for Carbon Challenge Participants / $15 for the General Public.
