  • The state of our world and the thinking, including unquestioned assumptions, that have led us to where we are
  • How every individual and group can help to make a difference in working towards sustainability

There must have been about 80 people at the event, from many different community groups in Canberra and the region.

Guest speaker Will Steffen from the ANU Climate Change Institute outlined the many local initiatives the Institute is involved in, including:

  • A proposal for a Green Centre @ ANU Exchange that could become a test bed for new approaches to the built environment, and for showcasing regional expertise in climate change solutions;
  • ACT Government-funded research on local climate vulnerability and adaptation issues;
  • Canberra Conversations, led by Chorus of Women (http://www.chorusofwomen.org)
  • Switch to Green Conference on 10 September 2009 (http://www.switchtogreen.unaa.org.au/)
  • Proposed integrated transport system for Canberra

Bob Douglas of SEE-Change identified the high eco-footprint of Canberra inner south suburbs (see http://www.acfonline.org.au/co.....tionatlas/) and there was discussion about possible action to work towards greater sustainability, and agreement to meet again to take this forward.
