Who went to the EV festival this year? Were there new models of EVs on display compared to last year?

Yeah I went and it was awesome. There were 5 Tesla's a lot of Blades and Imievs, Nissan Leaf and quite a few converted cars. I got to ride in an IMiev and converted car.

It was heaps bigger than last year but i guess not many car manufacturers have released new models. Lots of talk of new models coming out in 2012.

Yes, I was there at the 2011 Canberra International Electric Vehicle Festival. It should also be noted that the IAA (German Motor Show) was on at around the same time and Tesla did not have a car at the German Motor show, but they had several cars at the 2011 Canberra International Electric Vehicle Festival. That alone says something about the importance of the Festival from a leading Electric Car producer.

The Nissan Leaf was a new comer. There were also several Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric cars, but I'm not sure if they were displayed in 2010 or not.

Tesla had more cars on display and giving members of public rides.

I'm still working on my report on the Electric Vehicle Festival which you can find here .

My Electric Go Kart was a new comer to the event.

I think Electric Boats were new comers with EcoBoats displaying their range of products.

A number of DIY electric car conversions  and electric motorcycles including an electric motorcycle (Voltron) that competed in the 2011 TTXGP were present.

Next year is going to be even bigger and I plan to put on a show with my Electric Go Kart and other Electric Vehicles which I will be building between now and then.

This year's event was huge compared to previous years and I'm still writing up articles about this year's event.

Exhibitors at the Canberra EV Festival included

A battery recharge station company.  They plan to roll out across Australia. Canberra is early in this roll out.  A small number of BetterPlace charging stations have already been installed. They had a Nissan Leaf on display.

Declared intentions include battery change stations which will replace a battery in a suitable car in under 5 minutes.  No battery change stations exist in Australia & I am unaware of any anywhere in the world.

A battery recharge station company.  They have plans for all of Australia.  At the moment, they have 1 charge station in Canberra, at the University of Canberra.  They also have charge stations in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne & Adelaide.

Green Choice

ActewAGL's green energy programme.

Lithium Batteries Australia.

Mitsubishi Fuso hybrid commercial truck

Supply & fit battery packs to extend the electric range of Toyota Prius & Camry hybrids.  Also supply battery modules for other purposes.

Display included a Misubishi iMieve patrol vehicle (which is used in the Sydney CBD) & a generator in a small trailer which is used to provide a "get you going" charge for electric vehicles with a flat battery.

Solar/Wind Energy

Tesla Motors Australia

Local agency of the Tesla roadster & Tesla Model S (which will be released in 2012). Five roadsters were in Canberra for the Festival & provided rides to approximately 800 members of the public.

Hi Crazy Al and GregW,

Thanks for all that great feedback about what happened at this year's electric vehicle festival.

I checked out your blog Crazy Al and it's terrific!

I'll definitely look forward to attending the EV festival next year.
