The Regional Development Australia event the other night was interesting because three local companies gave an overview of how they have addressed sustainability in their businesses.

The three companies came from different sectors – Wollemi Systems in IT, Ginger Catering in food and hospitality, and Viridis E3 in environmentally sustainable development and property consultancy.

Some common themes from the three talks were the importance of the passion underpinning the businesses, the social aspects (people really enjoyed working in these businesses and with their colleagues who had similar values), and that "being green" could be compatible with running profitable businesses.
