Despite missing out on the ACT Government's first reverse auction to build Canberra's first large-scale solar farm, ActewAGL has just reaffirmed its interest in proceeding with development of a solar farm.

According to a Canberra Times article today, ActewAGL has plans for a site in Williamsdale, just off the Monaro Highway at Angle Crossing Road. The farm would include 280,000 ''solar modules'', arrayed in 15 rows and associated equipment, capable of generating 20 megawatts of power.

On 13 January, ACT Environment Minister Simon Corbell granted ActewAGL an exemption from the requirement for an environmental impact assessment under the Planning and Development Act 2007 after the company argued it had already undertaken six separate studies into the effects of the project on the natural environment in the area.

Does anyone know how many household's worth of energy these solar farms will supply?
