It's great to hear the news that the ACT Government has brought forward its timeline for the ACT achieving 100 percent renewable energy – from 2025 to 2020.

An article in the Canberra Times after the announcement, by Ken Baldwin, founding director of the Energy Change Institute at ANU, provides further background on why this decision may have been made.

It appears that, with the uncertainty in the past 12 months over the Renewable Energy Target, there has been a huge drop in investment in renewable energy projects, thus creating a buyer's market.
