Congratulations to all those in the Canberra Loves 40% campaign team and supporters for your fantastic contribution in pushing for the result announced today by the ACT Government – an emissions reduction target of 40% by 2020 and 80% by 2050.

It demonstrates once again that persistent and dedicated advocacy from grassroots community organisations can make a real impact on public policy.

Now the hard work needs to start on implementing action to achieve the greenhouse emissions target of 40% by 2020.

I'm sure that is a challenge that many in the community will be energised in helping to achieve.

Some members of the Canberra Loves 40% team were at the media event today at which the Government announced the emissions target – see photo below:
