For information – I found this a helpful discovery. I didn't realise this service existed until I read about it in the Canberra Chronicle. I often find the ACT Government has services and information that I want to know about, but falls down in promoting them widely. Anyway, for those who don't already know, 'Fix My Street' is an email service allowing you to report all sorts of prosaic things needing attention, including a few that touch on environmentally sustainable issues eg., the state of important infrastructure in your street such as trees, footpaths, cycleways, even noise pollution. Very handy to use.
This is such a great idea to have something as simple and easy to submit questions and complaints. Im sure we all have whitnessed problems with our local traffic, bushes etc. If more people knew about this, then maybe there wouldnt be so many problems in our streets. Like the potholes that seem to be appearing all over canberra after these big rains.
I urge you to give it a go. I used it to report a pothole, and got a received response from the ACT today, let's just hope they have the 'manpower' to do the fixing and that residents use it responsibly too. I do worry about basic capacity at times…
I used it to report a blocked storm water drain a few months ago and it was attended to very quickly. I also used it to report a street light that was out which was important for an elderly neighbour-it also lit her driveway. That one took longer with a reminder but then it was attended to with an apology for not being quicker. A good thing to be aware of.
