This is a long shot, but does anyone know if there are any places in Canberra where you can buy large recycled pots and planters?

Hi Marea :-),

Check out Tiny's out next to the tip or Revolve, who have moved over near the Theiss Recycling Depot.

I've found some fantastic pots in great condition there and you can often pick them up for under a dollar each. The big ones make nice salad gardens and herb bowls to set on decks or patios. Old wheelbarrows and old bath tubs make great artistic statements as planters and these can often be picked up for nix too.

cheers, Cindy

Hi Cindy,

I checked out Tiny's a fortnight ago and didn't spot any there, but I could have missed them.

Thanks for the tip about Revolve – I'll give them a try.Smile

Revolve at Mitchel often has some good stuff.  Sometimes using different materials for pots might work. For instance, if you want to plant peas, beans, or other climbing plants, old bags are useful. You can fill them with soil, plant them up and hang them. They may only be useful for a year or so, but it is an interesting way of recycling and a great gardening talking point.
