I installed a rain water tank before last summer and have yet to unstall a pump. I used a watering can to wather the vegi garden and and also ran a hose to some fruit trees to give them a larger soaking at times.
I found that the preasure I got at the end of a standard 20m garden hose was very low and only resulted in a trickle when run across flat ground fed by a full tank (approx 1.5m high). I suspect that this would not be enough pressure to “drive” a dripper system without extra head.
I am planning to install a pump before this Summer but have also been interested in placing a small tank (100L – 200L) on top of the garage roof and having a solar pump fill this from the main tank. Hopefully this will provide enough preasure to operate a dripper system.
Does anyone know where I can get a solar pump that is capable of pumping water approx. 3m high, I only need a very low flow rate enough to fill the small tank on a sunny day.
