A couple of days ago, Ronnie Kahn gave an inspiring account of what led her to set up OzHarvest, which "rescues" excess food from food outlets and provides it to charities. When you think about it, it's amazing that no one had tackled this problem of food waste before.

The Canberra branch of OzHarvest has been going since 2008, run by Communities@Work, and in that time has rescued the equivalent of over 1 million meals that might otherwise have gone to landfill.

Great work OzHarvest!
