The Coal and Climate Change event organised by Climate Action Canberra last night was an eye-opener.

Paola Cassoni from central Queensland told us that nature refuges such as the Bimblebox Nature Refuge, protected under the National Reserve System, could still be accessed for coal mining despite that protection.

Jeremy Tager from Greenpeace also told the meeting that Greenpeace has recently released a report on the extent to which the big four banks support coal mining and the construction of coal-fired power stations. Customers of those banks can now be better-informed about how their funds may be used in supporting fossil-fuel industries. See the study at http://www.greenpeace.org.au/c…..ofundo.php
