I’ve done the tour of Nick and Sarah’s Sustainable House and found it really interesting. It was a cold winter’s day and inside the house it was nice and warm without any heating. Their concrete floor which provides good thermal mass to soak up the sun looked better than I thought it would, as they have a pattern in it and a sandy colour that gives it warmer tones.
Nick and Sarah gave a thorough rundown of how they built and furnished their sustainable house, and how they developed their sustainable garden.
It was certainly worthwhile and food for thought in my own journey on the road to sustainability.
Canberra’s Sustainable House and the Canberra Environment and Sustainability Resource Centre are organising a tour and information session on reducing energy and water use in your home on 31 October 2010.
