ANU Climate Update 2018

Thurs 8 Feb

An overview of how our climate is changing and how we’re responding as a society

2017 was Australia’s third warmest year on record, even without El Niño’s warming influence, according to new research released by the Bureau of Meteorology. With this in mind, understanding how our climate is changing and how we’re responding is becoming ever more vital.

You’ll hear from experts, practitioners and leading commentators from across ANU and throughout Australia.

Part 1: State of the Climate, 2 – 3.40pm
Summarising the latest climate science, including a snapshot of newly released 2017 climate data, with discussion on emissions policy responses.

Part 2: Climate extremes, 4.10 – 5.30pm
Covering extreme heat, flooding and frost – and their implications for how we live, work and eat.

Part 3: Corporate Responses to Climate Change, 6 – 7.30pm
How corporations and investors are responding to climate change, in Australia and around the world.

Drinks and light refreshments will be served in between sessions.

ANU Climate Update will bring together climate researchers, students, policymakers, industry, media and the public. There will be opportunities for audience questions at the end of each session and plenty of informal discussion during the breaks.

Registration via Eventbrite is essential – tickets are booking out.
