50 Electric Cars Destined for Canberra!

You may recall a few months back (see the original forum post), Wollemi Systems took delivery of Canberra’s first commercially produced electric car.

Now it seems that we can expect to see 50 electric cars on Canberra’s roads – through the First50 project!   Since first buying their Blade Electron, Haydn Lowe and his team have established the ‘Clean Driving’ project – dedicated to providing open and clear information about electric vehicles in Australia.

“Our first major campaign is the First50 – and we’re calling for leading Canberra Businesses to come and join the electric car party!” says Haydn Lowe – co-founder of the project.  “we’re taking the sweat out of buying an electric car, and there are two models to choose from”.

The First50 project combines supply of vehicle, insurance and a finance package, all bundled together.  “By doing it as a large group, we have been able to work together with our sponsors and suppliers to negotiate much better deals than would otherwise be possible as an individual”

“We see it as a project to help put Canberra on the map for electric car manufacturers, and facilitate faster uptake of this exciting new technology”.

“Electric cars are in very short supply” says Haydn.  “If you’re quick enough to get into the First50 now you can finally go pure electric.  We have a small window of opportunity – so receiving orders in the next few weeks is critical for the project – as we will not be able to guarantee supply after that.”
